According to the warning, severe thunderstorms were positioned along a line stretching from near Hendrix to Sherman and Howe. The storms were described as nearly stationary during the period of the alert. The primary hazards included wind gusts reaching 60 mph and hail the size of pennies.
The NWS indicated that these conditions could result in damage to roofs, siding, and trees. The warning area encompasses numerous communities, including Sherman, Denison, Van Alstyne, Howe, Bells, Tom Bean, Savoy, Knollwood, Dorchester, Valley Lake, Boddie, Ida, Carpenters Bluff, Ambrose, Sowells Bluff, Luella, White Mound, Farmington, and Cannon.
Safety guidance provided with the alert advised residents to remain inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. The agency also noted that heavy rainfall accompanying the storms could lead to flash flooding. Drivers were specifically warned not to attempt to pass through flooded roadways.
