Thursday brings a 60% chance of rain coverage across Texoma, with the best opportunity expected from the afternoon into early evening. Sherman is about 15 miles north of Van Alstyne.

Most areas are forecast to receive less than 0.5 inch, although isolated locations could see more than 1 inch if heavier rain develops. High temperatures Thursday are expected to remain in the 90s, while triple-digit heat is forecast to return Friday, according to the forecast reported by yahoo.com.

Wednesday was the ninth day this September with temperatures reaching 100 degrees. That left the area one day below the monthly record of 10 days and brought the year’s total number of 100-degree days to 54.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the 90s next week. The forecast indicates temperatures will likely remain above average for several more weeks.
