Van Alstyne ISD is inviting individuals interested in serving as substitute teachers during the 2026-27 school year to attend upcoming training and orientation sessions. The district will host two separate sessions to accommodate interested candidates.

The first session is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, at 9:00 a.m. The second session will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 4, also at 9:00 a.m. Both events will be held at the Van Alstyne ISD Administration Building, located at 1096 N. Waco St.

The district describes substitute teaching as an opportunity to make a difference in students' lives while enjoying a flexible schedule and supporting local schools. During the orientation, participants will complete required training and have their photographs taken for a Van Alstyne ISD identification badge.

Attendees must bring specific documents to their chosen session. Required items include a driver's license, a Social Security card, and a voided check or bank documentation for direct deposit purposes. Additionally, individuals with teaching certifications or college degrees should bring copies of their teaching certification and college transcripts, if applicable.

Van Alstyne ISD has expressed hope to welcome participants to the sessions. Residents interested in this role should plan to attend one of the two available dates to complete the necessary onboarding steps for the upcoming academic year.
