Van Alstyne ISD Appoints Debbie Cholette as New Junior High Principal

Van Alstyne Independent School District has announced that Ms. Debbie Cholette will serve as the new Principal of Van Alstyne Junior High. The district highlighted Cholette's decade of experience in education, noting that the majority of her career has been spent within the Van Alstyne ISD community.

Cholette’s history with the district began at Van Alstyne Middle School, where she initially worked as an aide. She subsequently spent several years teaching Reading Language Arts. Most recently, she held the position of Assistant Principal at Van Alstyne Junior High. In that role, she focused on fostering a positive campus culture and building relationships among students, staff, and families.

In a statement regarding her appointment, Cholette expressed gratitude for the opportunity. "Stepping into the role of principal is both exciting and humbling, and I cannot think of a better place to be," she said. She further emphasized her commitment to the school community.

"While my title has changed, my heart remains the same. I want to continue serving alongside the staff, supporting them, celebrating with them and doing whatever I can to help make VAJH the very best place for our students and staff."

The district stated that Cholette’s dedication to service and her understanding of the Van Alstyne Junior High community prepare her to lead the campus into its next chapter.
