Van Alstyne ISD has announced that Board Vice President and Place 7 Trustee David Kerr has been selected for the Leadership TASB Class of 2027. Kerr was chosen as one of only 26 school board trustees from across Texas to participate in the program.
According to the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), participants are selected based on their commitment to strong governance, student-focused leadership, and advocacy for public education. The organization describes Leadership TASB as the premier trustee leadership development program in the state.
Established in 1993, the program provides advanced training designed to cultivate visionary leadership, strengthen governance knowledge, and foster meaningful professional relationships among school board members from across Texas.
Kerr has served on the Van Alstyne ISD Board of Trustees since 2003 and currently holds the position of Board Vice President. The district noted that throughout his tenure, he has remained committed to supporting students, staff, and the continued success of Van Alstyne ISD.
The district issued a statement congratulating Kerr on this honor. The announcement read: "We are proud to have his leadership representing Van Alstyne ISD at the state level and look forward to the knowledge and perspective he will bring back to benefit our students and community."
