Van Alstyne Independent School District will officially celebrate the opening of Charles and Beth Williams Elementary School with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
The event will take place at the new campus, 2134 Cuellar Way in Van Alstyne, within the Mantua community. Community members, students and families are invited to attend.
Williams Elementary is Van Alstyne ISD’s third elementary campus. The district said the school was built to provide additional capacity while maintaining the educational experience families expect from Van Alstyne ISD as the community grows.
District leaders, members of the Board of Trustees, local officials and staff are expected to attend the ceremony and take part in the ceremonial ribbon cutting. After the ceremony, Williams Elementary will host its first Meet the Teacher night.
The campus is named for Charles and Beth Williams. Superintendent Dr. David Brown said the school honors “the legacy of Charlie and Beth Williams,” whose service helped shape Van Alstyne students and families.
Principal Holly Haynes said opening the campus marks a new chapter for the community. “We are honored to welcome our students, families and community into a campus where kids come first and where we work to grow our students' love of learning the Williams Way every day!” Haynes said.
