DENISON, Texas — A Grayson County sheriff's deputy was arrested over the weekend and charged with family violence following an incident in Denison, the sheriff's office confirmed.

Deputy Jacob Deen was taken into custody Saturday after deputies responded to a report on the 600 block of Old Airport Road in Denison. Following an on-scene investigation, Deen was arrested and booked into the Fannin County Jail on a charge of family violence, according to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office has not released additional details about the circumstances of the incident or the nature of the alleged offense. The case remains an active criminal investigation, and no further information about potential court dates or bond status was immediately available.

The arrest of a county law enforcement officer on a domestic violence charge is a significant event in a region where public trust in local law enforcement agencies is closely watched. The Grayson County Sheriff's Office, headquartered in Sherman, serves a population of approximately 140,000 residents across the county.

Deen was transported to the Fannin County Jail in Bonham rather than being held in Grayson County, a standard practice when a law enforcement officer from one agency is taken into custody to avoid potential conflicts of interest. The sheriff's office has not indicated whether Deen remains employed with the department or has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Van Alstyne straddles the Collin and Grayson county line, part of the Texoma region, about 50 miles north of Dallas.
