SHERMAN, Texas — The City of Sherman has launched a new beautification program designed to pair Public Works crews directly with homeowners to clean up eyesores and manage bulk waste throughout the community.

Under the program, Sherman Public Works crews will work alongside residents to address blighted properties, remove accumulated debris, and handle bulk waste items that are difficult for homeowners to dispose of on their own. The initiative aims to improve the visual appeal of neighborhoods across the city.

The program comes as Sherman and the broader Texoma region experience sustained growth, with major employers including Texas Instruments investing billions in new semiconductor fabrication facilities in the area. City leaders have emphasized that maintaining clean, attractive neighborhoods supports both quality of life for residents and the region's economic development efforts.

Homeowners interested in participating can contact Sherman Public Works to request assistance with cleanup and bulk waste removal.

Van Alstyne, with a population of about 5,500 on the border of Collin and Grayson counties, is located approximately 50 miles north of Dallas and about 15 miles south of Sherman.
