SHERMAN, Texas — Sparklight has invested more than $21 million over the past three years to expand and enhance its fiber-rich broadband network in Sherman and the surrounding areas, the company announced this week, bringing faster internet speeds and greater capacity to local residents and businesses.
The broadband provider said the investment is part of a continued network evolution that extends fiber deeper into its service areas, building infrastructure capable of supporting emerging technologies and the increasing digital demands of homes and businesses across the region. With a fiber-rich network spanning more than 31,000 route miles nationwide, Sparklight said the Sherman-area upgrades help create a future-ready network positioned for long-term growth and economic development.
Residential customers in Sherman now have access to internet speeds as fast as 6 Gigabits per second as a result of the upgrades.
The investment arrives as Sherman continues to see population growth and commercial expansion, with reliable high-speed internet increasingly viewed as essential infrastructure for attracting new employers and supporting remote workers. Broadband access has become a key factor in economic development decisions for growing North Texas cities.
