The Baylor Bears football team is experiencing notable shifts in its offensive line as the new season nears. With only Kaden Sieracki returning as a full-time starter at right tackle, the team is adapting to changes following the exit of Yakiri Walker, a Memphis transfer who was anticipated to take on the center role but is now coaching after his injunction was denied.
In the wake of Walker's departure, Koltin Sieracki has emerged as a primary contender for the center position. Offensive line coach Austin Woods remarked on Koltin's extensive summer practice, emphasizing his leadership and high-level performance. "He's done a great job of leading and communicating and playing some really high level football right now," Woods stated.
Koltin Sieracki, weighing 317 pounds and standing at 6'4", served as Baylor's sixth lineman last season and started three games at both right guard and center. Although he was initially slated to play guard this season, he has redirected his focus to center, a position he favors. "I actually prefer center," Sieracki noted, highlighting his comfort and enjoyment of the role's physical demands.
The offensive line configuration continues to evolve, with Nate Kibble from Texas and Asher Hale from South Alabama reportedly playing alongside Sieracki at guard. Logan Moore, a UAB transfer, has been assigned to left tackle, while Cole Rhett from Toledo is being used in multiple positions, suggesting he may be vying for a starting role or could fill Sieracki's previous sixth lineman spot.
Woods acknowledged the progress of Rhett and Hale, pointing out their steady improvement as fall camp progresses. The final offensive line lineup remains to be determined as the Bears prepare for their match against Auburn.
