The Dallas Cowboys have secured the services of veteran pass rusher Von Miller with a one-year contract, aiming to strengthen their defensive line. Miller, who has achieved two Super Bowl victories and earned eight Pro Bowl selections, is the active leader in career sacks with 136.5, including 9.0 sacks last season while playing for Washington.

However, the signing has drawn skepticism from some analysts. Former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus, now an analyst for 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, has voiced strong disapproval, describing the move as potentially harmful and of low impact.

He remarked that Miller's performance last season did not meet the expectations for a starting player, suggesting that if he were less renowned, he might not have been brought on based on his recent performance.

Broaddus highlighted concerns regarding Miller's speed and ability to close in on plays, which are critical for a leading edge rusher. He believes the Cowboys might benefit more from utilizing James Houston, who is likely to be pushed down the depth chart. Pro Football Focus ranked Miller 66th out of 119 edge rushers last year, while Houston was placed at 49th.

In response to the criticism, Miller defended his signing by stating his capability to contribute both on the field and as a mentor for younger players. During his introductory press conference, he expressed confidence in his ability to enhance the skills of his teammates, asserting his belief in his own effectiveness and potential impact.
