Angels Surge in Second Inning
The Los Angeles Angels established control early, erupting for five runs in the second inning to build an insurmountable lead over the Houston Astros. The scoring began with a single run in the first inning when Neto crossed the plate after Schanuel was hit by a pitch, followed by Meckler scoring on a fielder's choice that eliminated Schanuel at second base.
The momentum shifted decisively in the second frame. Meckler doubled to left field, driving in Rivero and Neto to make the score 4-0. Adell followed with another double to left, adding two more runs as Meckler and Trout crossed the plate. Peraza then grounded out to shortstop, allowing Adell to score from third, pushing the Angels' advantage to 7-0. Schanuel reached second base on the play.
